About Us

Founded in 1993 by director Elizabeth Flores, NAYB is 501c3 non-profit and a staple in the Battery Park neighborhood. NAYB's passion lays in community and continuously seeks innovative ways to share music and dance to all ages, all economic background, all around the world and in our own backyard. With virtual classes in Peru, Nigeria, Indonesia and more, or in person classes in Tribeca or Greenwich, CT, NAYB has something for everyone.
At New American Youth Ballet (NAYB) we strive to cultivate the joy of ballet while emphasizing correct technique right from the start. With a focus on ballet vocabulary, ballet history, and composers, NAYB's award winning syllabus gets right to the heart of classical ballet - simply. With many performance opportunities from the stage to the screen, we strive to give our students every chance to shine.

NAYB has many performance opportunities for it's students. From holiday recitals and private events to senior centers and hospitals, on stage or on TV with the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, our students have every chance to showcase what they'll learn at NAYB.
For every performance, students are fully costumed at no extra charge to the families.

Testimonials

In everything she does, Elizabeth's aim is to offer young dancers a wider education about/exposure to the dance world, than they can receive in the classroom alone. If you are looking for an informal school with a warm, caring, earnest, knowledgeable teacher at its heart, this is it. Her desire to do her very best to deliver all aspects of a ballet education to her students comes through in everything she does.

My now 14 year-old daughter was first introduced to Miss Elizabeth and New American Youth Ballet at the age of 2. She has gone on to top pre-professional programs, such as the Alvin Ailey School, but when the time came to get serious about ballet, as she heads into high school and starting pointe, we know where the best place to train is.

I've known her since I was 2 years old, and 17 years later I still have a great relationship with New American Youth Ballet. Not only was she extremely dedicated to helping and encouraging our growth as dancers, she's passionate about the art and wishes to share that with all of her students, whether it becomes a calling, or just a fun place to go to each week.
